Accordingly, diversity and inclusion is central to who we are and how we operate as One SJI. We work hard to foster an environment where differences are valued and inclusion is encouraged – and we're stronger because of it.

Employee Resource Groups

SJI’s Employee Resource Groups (ERG’s) are dedicated to helping drive employee engagement, fostering an inclusive and collaborative workplace, developing future leaders, and broadening community partnerships.

AABE

American Association of Blacks in Energy is a national association of energy professionals dedicated to ensuring African Americans and other minorities have input into the development of energy policy regulations, research and development technologies, and environmental issues. At SJI, members of AABE’s South Jersey Chapter grant scholarships, provide mentorship and educational awareness to high school and college students, and participate in community service and networking events.

The mission of Emerging Leaders is to develop, equip, and retain emerging leaders through targeted initiatives and programs encouraging innovation, professional growth, and development.

The Veteran’s Engagement Team helps to improve our organization through engaging Veteran employees and using their experience as an asset to the company, addressing issues unique to the Veteran community, and support initiatives, both at SJI and in our service area, that help those who proudly served in the Armed Forces of the United States.

Community Outreach and Events

Heart Walk
Heart Walk
Our employees demonstrate our commitment to our community by wearing red and raising money in support of the American Heart Association’s (AHA) annual Heart Walk. Since 2018, SJI has raised over $73,000 to support the AHA’s mission to help save lives from heart disease.
VETS Food Drive 
VETS Food Drive 
The Red Cross Service to Armed Forces program provides home comforts and critical services to military bases and hospitals and supports military families during deployments and emergencies. In 2020, our Veterans Engagement Team (VETS) collected nearly 3,800 lbs. of food during their food drive with the Red Cross by setting up collection points throughout New Jersey.

Community starts at home, and we are committed to serving and making a difference in the lives of our customers, employees, and members of the communities we serve. Each year, our employees honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day by participating in MLK Day of Service activities, helping those around us in ways that reflect our Core Values – safety, service, community, and inclusion. 
Local Food Bank Events
Local Food Bank Events
At SJI, we recognize that challenging times may continue for residents and businesses. South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas regularly participate in community food distribution events to help customers get the utility bill assistance they need.
